Synopsis 3

Known as one of the youngest and most ambitious poker players in the country, Skyler Thorne has a reputation to uphold in Vegas this year. Her sole focus for spring semester is to perfect her game and get tournament ready – and have some fun with her sorority sisters, of course. Meeting a care-free pledge with incredible arms adds a whole new element of fun to her semester, but when a shocking discovery about his past surfaces, Skyler finds herself stuck in a game she wasn’t prepared to play.

Kip Jackson is on a mission from his father. His plan was to get in, have a little fun, and then get out – on to bigger and better things. A feisty girl with bright blue eyes wasn’t on his list of things to do, but she quickly moves her way up to the very top. When he realizes completing his dad’s mission means crushing her in the process, he must decide if his dreams are worth the risk – or if he even has the same dreams, at all.

Two secrets. Two hearts. Two hands being played in one twisted game of deceit.

When the cards are on the table, will anyone be left standing?

The perfect poker face can only hide them for so long.

ExcerptWe get to my apartment around noon and I throw together a couple of turkey sandwiches for us. By the time we finish eating, we’re both exhausted – both from paddle boarding and from not sleeping last night.

“Why don’t we take a shower and watch a movie?” I suggest as Skyler yawns.

“I don’t have any clothes here besides the ones I have on now and they’re all sandy.”

“You can borrow a pair of boxers and a shirt of mine.”

Skyler chews her lip, unsure. “I don’t know, I’m pretty tired.”

“So am I,” I say, standing and pulling her up with me. “So maybe we watch a movie and maybe we take a nap. Don’t leave yet. I barely see you during the week and I know there’s not many weekends where you don’t have sorority stuff going on.”

“I actually have a sisterhood event tonight.”

“See?” I pull her wrist and lead her toward my bedroom, which really is just my bed separated by hanging curtains on a rack. I rummage through my clothes until I find a clean shirt and pair of boxers, tossing them to her and pointing to the bathroom. “Towels are above the toilet in the cabinet, shampoo and shit’s in there.”

She still seems unsure, so I pull her into me and move the fallen strands of hair from her face. “Come on. Just for a few hours. You’ll feel better once you shower and I know you’re tired. You’re not going to get any sleep if you go home to your sorority house.”

At that she sighs and nods. “You’re probably right about that.”

I smile and nudge her toward the bathroom again.

“Fine,” she says. “But just for a little while. And no trying to ambush me in the shower, either.”

I hold up my hands in surrender. “I promise. You can shower in peace.”

“Mmm hmm,” she says, suspicious, but she walks to the bathroom and closes the door behind her.

I smile and start straightening my bed, turning on the TV to find something for us to watch. I’m flipping through the channels when I hear the shower turn on and the smile leaves my face. Suddenly, I’m completely aware of Skyler’s naked body in the other room.

Shaking my head, I focus on finding something to watch, willing my own body to behave. After a few minutes, I realize I’ve flipped through the channels three times now without stopping or even recognizing what I was seeing on the screen. I bite my lip hard, cross my arms, and pace.

Don’t do it. Don’t make this more complicated than it is. She trusts you, she’s opening up to you – that’s what you need from her. Poker. Poker. Poker.

That’s all.

I pace more. Back and forth. Back and forth. Before I know what I’m doing, my knuckles are knocking softly on the bathroom door. I have no idea what I’m going to say or what the fuck I’m doing, but I can’t stop my hands. The door opens slightly on the third knock, as if it wasn’t completely closed, and through the slit, I see Skyler.

She’s standing there shocked, her mouth open slightly as the water continues to drip down her body, running in rivers down over her breasts and meeting between her thighs. I swallow hard, unsure of my decision. I have nothing to ask, no reason to be staring at her through this door – but Skyler doesn’t cover herself, she doesn’t scream, she doesn’t tell me to get out.

I open the door a little further, still wondering what the hell I’m doing. I consider asking if she needs anything else, if she found a towel, something – but we both know I didn’t come in here to give her a towel.

“I suck at keeping promises,” I admit, just above a whisper, and I wish I could tell her I’m not just talking about the promise to not interrupt her shower.

“And I suck at pretending like I don’t want you.”

What’s the worst that could happen?

Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn’t interested in exploiting his stunning rower’s build, chiseled features, and family’s billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water.

When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?

5 Pennies

EOC Attraction is the best kind of distraction.  It provides escapism (a week in a tropical paradise), a blast from the past (memories from college days gone by), and fantasy (in the form of Martin Sandeke).

Knowing that this was part one of three books, I knew there would be a cliffhanger.  I liken book series to playing with a jack in the box.  You keep turning pages and when you least expect it, the cliffy pops up and startles you.  When the next part comes out, you have to decide if you are going to start turning the crank again.  Fortunately, I received all three parts and read them to glorious completion.

I loved Kaitlyn.  She was smart, shy, and a bit socially awkward.  She took her responsibilities seriously and worked hard for positive outcomes for anything she took on.  Having to shoulder the lion’s share of the burden in her Chemistry class was something she accepted as she preferred not to confront her partner about his lack of participation in certain areas of their work.

But when she became privy to some pretty serious information that could affect him negatively, she stepped up, went outside her comfort zone and made sure he got the message loud and clear, thus saving him from harm.  It was this action that acted as the catalyst to start their more than lab partner relationship.

Kaitlyn’s thoughts on feminism, family and friendship were quite provoking.  After being deemed a “marriage girl” vs. the casual hook up girl, she wasn’t really sure how she felt about it.  Wasn’t it possible to be both?  On a responsible basis of course, but more importantly on her terms?

This story just made me think.  Think back to how things were when I was that age.  Think how I would handle them now if I found myself in a similar situation.  Think about how far women have come in so many areas but that double standards still exist in many more.

Elements of Chemistry – Attraction was a great jump off the starting block for this wonderful trilogy and I urge you to pick up your copy today.

Add to GoodreadsEoC-01ExcerptParties?” I may have curled my lip in a miniature sneer.

“Yeah, on the island, at some of the other houses, friends of mine. You know, the usual college scene stuff.”

Usual college scene… just a bunch of billionaires’ kids and their friends. It sounded delightful.

“Yeah, no thanks.” I pulled my eyes from his, inspected the rocks. “I don’t like parties. But don’t let that stop you from going.”

“Parker.”

I sighed, then met his gaze.

“I want you to come.”

“No thank you.”

He ground his teeth. “Kaitlyn, you promised you were going to give this a try.”

“I will…”

Once again he was giving me the severe stare down, likely because my weakly delivered I will didn’t even sound convincing to me.

Managing to swallow around the sudden thickness in my throat, I squared my shoulders so that I was facing him. “Here’s the thing, Sandeke. I am. I am going to give this a try. Despite my worries-”

“What worries?” He sounded exasperated.

I ignored his question, “Despite my worries and reservations, I’m going to give this the good college try. But I don’t even know how to dance. I can tango like a pro, but I don’t do the body wiggle weird thing. And isn’t that what the kids do these days at parties? Dance?”

He lifted an eyebrow at my excuse—obviously unimpressed—and with two fluid strokes moved to join me.

I stiffened, my eyes wide, and backed up a step at his advance. “What- what are you doing?”

“I’m going to teach you how to dance,” he said simply, already on me, reaching for my body.

I stiffened further, feeling unaccountably breathless as his big hands slipped around my waist and settled on my hips and lower back.

“But there- but we- but-”

“Shhh…” he said, pulling me closer. “Relax.”

“Create cold fusion,” I murmured in response, unable to relax and placing my hands nowhere, because placing them anywhere on Martin felt perilous to my wellbeing.

He glanced down at me, his eyebrows in a perplexed V. “What does cold fusion have to do with anything.”

“You tell me to relax, which is impossible. I tell you to create cold fusion, which is impossible.”

His answering smile was crooked. “You can’t relax?”

“No.”

“Why not.”

“You know why not.”

“Well, it might help if you touched me.”

“That will not help.”

“It might.”

“It won’t.”

“Touch me.”

I scowled at his chest, my hands still in the air at my sides. Stupid perfect chest.

“Parker, if we’re going to dance you have to touch me.” He sounded amused and his fingers flexed on my bare skin. I felt the roughened calluses of his palms just before he released my body to grab my hands. He brought them to his shoulders, pressed them there, then returned his own to my hips. I didn’t miss the fact that his hand-placement was now a bit more daring than it had been a moment ago, lower, closer to my bottom.

I swallowed thickly, glaring at my fingers where they touched his perfectly sculpted shoulder.

“Don’t you want to touch me?” he asked, his inflection daring, teasing, but also something else. Something hesitant and uncertain.

I lifted my eyes to his; they were guarded, his smile looked bracing, almost like a grimace, like he was preparing himself for bad news.

I sighed and I knew I sounded resigned and a little pitiful, “Yes…”

His gaze thawed as it dropped to my lips. “Then you should… because I want you to.”

I used to be fearful. I used to be admired. I used to be the Femme Fatale.

I fell from my status, from the pedestal I had been placed, and I fell in love.

I once thrived on one motto – Don’t feel, don’t deviate, kill.
Now, I thrive on betrayal, a reminder never to trust my heart, and the need to be Femme Fatale Reloaded.
It’s time I got myself back to the place I most belong – a cherished, yearned for secret weapon.
However, when a ghost from my past walks into my life again, pledging to be an Abbiati, my life turns upside down all over again.

Excerpt

“Hey,” Enzo’s soothing voice travels towards me. “What’s got you bolting away?”
“Everything,” I admit feebly, and I rub the back of my hand over my face to rid the tears. “There is no going back from this now, Enzo. There’s no way to save me. This is me set for life now, you know that, right?”
“It’s not,” he states, and even as I nod, he sticks to his word. “There is going to be something that will give you some sort of faith back.” He offers me such a sincere look, and I wish that was enough to move the pessimism I live with. “I don’t know when, but it will.”
“I’m too far gone to be saved,” I murmur as shame fills me up, drowning me. “I don’t even deserve it, Enzo. What I’ve done…” I don’t finish, just shake my head in dismay and feel that disappointment in myself take over. It wraps itself around me, and I feel like I’m suffocating within its tight squeeze. “It makes me more like Giovanni than anything. I don’t want to be like him.”
“A monster wouldn’t be sorry,” Enzo says and I look at him. “Monsters don’t feel, don’t care, and don’t repent.”
His words trigger a spell of nostalgia. Zane reminded once that I was never the monster I thought I was. He believed in me, fought for my own self-worth, and built me up – only to tear me down. After all, the day Zane broke my heart and ended round two was the day I ceased to properly exist. But I never lost the belief that somewhere within me was a beacon of hope. A prospect of salvation. A likelihood of rescue. Now, I struggle even to smile. What hope do I have to dream of a better outlook?
“You are not a monster,” he states again, this time with ample conviction lacing his every word.
“You don’t know what I’ve done,” I defy him, dropping my gaze. “I am not the same sister that left.”
“I wouldn’t expect you to be her.” He grants me the chance to be damaged without a second glance of regret. Enzo accepts that will have changed, that I’m not the girl I was, but he looks at me with a heated demeanour. I feel a swirl of serenity come to live within me as I look back up. Enzo isn’t giving up on me and I see that all over his face. “I wish I had saved you. I wished we could have done more to find you, but Papà made sure you were nowhere to be found when really you were right under our noses. Amelia, I would have been there in a heartbeat, but the one time we got there, you weren’t around and nor was anything that would tie you to our Amalfi Coast home.”
“You came for me?” I ask, trying not to sound so horrified.
“Of course we did,” Enzo says, placing his arms around me to draw me in a hug. “Amelia, we have been at loggerheads with Papà and Giovanni to get you back with us. Our family isn’t complete without you.”
His hug tightens tenfold, and I enjoy the suffocating hold he has on me. I relish it, holding on tighter and falling hard against him, enjoying the sweet scent of his cologne. Enzo makes me feel safe and calm. He makes me feel sanity take control again. It’s for this reason that he is and always will be my father figure.
“I’ve missed you so much, Lia,” he whispers, kissing my hair. “I knew I would get you back damaged, and I know I still have no idea how bad you are, but I will never stop fighting for you.”

I used to be just another Fanfiction writer! That was until one person showed real interest in my work. And then another, and then another, until I had this whole group of people reviewing like crazy and wanting original work from me. I’d spent years writing for free online, I didn’t believe I had it in me to publish something!
But I’m glad I did!! I never imagined pushing my work and striving to reach my ultimate. I never imagined I’d be the girl who started The Viper Rooms! But who am I to deny the inspiration when it hits?
I love writing, it’s a lifeline. I love creating a world that others fall into. I love having the control to make a whole new world. It’s like a dependency, an addictive one. It’s one of the things I’m extremely proud of.
As much as I complain, I love the mini dialogues that go on in my head, the plotlines that attack me when I least expect them to. The ones that jump to life at the most inappropriate times and drive me totally crazy!!
For now I split my life between writing, dreaming, working, and volunteering with children.

I was there, but I wasn’t.

I danced around in a sea of emptiness and longing, it moved around me easily, carelessly, harshly.

It was all and it was nothing.

It made me full and it made me empty.

It pleased me and it dismayed me.

I didn’t care. I was there to do a job. To be a VIP. I played my part beautifully, just as I always did. Letting myself get taken away on empty promises of nothing, but somehow seemed like everything.

Beautiful With You(the third and final book of the Just Say Yes series)

5 Pennies

The story of Zoey and Andy has taken quite a few hits in the first two books, but nothing could have prepared us for the ending of the second book.  Then the decisions that Andy makes that could potential end any future for the both of them.  But Zoey is not ready to let her future or her happiness go without a fight. The quote at the beginning of book #3 sums it up best:

“It is said that when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.  Or when life knocks you down, get back up.  When you fall of the horse, get back on.  What do you do when life just keeps knocking you down, repeatedly?  You get your ass up and fight. ~ Zoey”

This book has more surprises then I could have ever dreamed of.  Jen Andrews gives us the next chapter in the lives of Zoey and Andy with all of the love, sweat and tears that we have come to expect in this series.  Nothing has come easy for these two people, but just because it is not easy doesn’t mean it is not worth it.

We get to see more into Andy’s past and his family as well as his previous life in New Zealand.  The lengths that Zoey goes to in this book to help not only herself but also Andy are amazing.  She shows a level of selflessness that is admirable and heartwarming.

This book brings Andy and Zoey full circle from where it all began.  It gives us hope that true love can weather the storm and come out the other side stronger because of it.  Not everything is always roses and rainbows and this series has shown us that.  When you read these books it is important to remember the tissues and know that even though there are times you feel like you are getting your heart broken it will all be worth it in the end.  Thank you Jen Andrew’s for A VERY AMAZING SERIES ❤

Synopsis 3

Zoey James is in a funk. She has been through more in her twenty-three years than most people have experienced in their entire lives. After her ex-husband tries to take everything she’s worked so hard for, she makes one rule: Never date someone she works with.

When her father’s newly hired mechanic moves into the apartment above their family-run business, Zoey’s lonely life is flipped upside down.

As a teenager, New Zealand native, Andy Tate’s family is tragically killed in an accident, and he is taken in by his aunt and uncle. Andy is pulled away from the only place he’s ever known as home, and moved halfway around the world to Northern California.

Ten years and one failed marriage later, Andy finds himself living in a new city, with a new job at James Racing, and living in an apartment next door to Zoey, his new boss’s beautiful and damaged daughter.

After an interesting chain of events over one weekend, Andy and Zoey form an unexpected bond. Even though he’s the only one who can get through to her, she will do all that she can to keep him at a distance and not break her one rule.

Will Andy be the reason for Zoey to start living her life again, or will she continue on her downward spiral, until she finally hits rock bottom?

Andy jumped off the tailgate, surprised to see me with my suitcase. “Where are you going?”
“I don’t know yet,” I admitted. “Just…away.” I popped the trunk of my car open and hurled
my suitcase inside.
“Are you leaving because of me?” he asked dismally.
“No, I’m leaving because of me.” I was being honest with him. Everything was my fault, and I needed to fix it. He simply made me realize how fucked up I truly was and how I didn’t want to be anymore.
“Please don’t go.” He walked over to me. He was too close so I backed away a step.
“I need to. I can’t be like this anymore.” He reached out for me, and I took another step back.
I couldn’t let him touch me. If he did, I would lose my momentum.
“When are you coming back?” he asked as he shoved his hands into his front pockets.
I shook my head. “I don’t know. When I feel better, I guess.”
He took another step forward, so I took another step back. I was pressed against my car and
unable to back up any farther. I could feel the desperation and concern radiating off him in waves.

“Thank you for cleaning off my car,” I said, changing the subject. When he nodded, I could
see him waging a war inside himself. He was about to lose it. Andy took another step closer, so he was only inches away from me. He pulled his hands from his pockets, and rested them on the trunk of my car, one on either side of me. He had me pinned.

“What are you do—” I started to say, and the next thing I knew, his hands were in my hair
and his lips were on mine. My mind went completely vacant as I surrendered to him. My lips parted, inviting him in. He slipped his tongue inside my mouth, and his stubble tickled my lips. My tongue instinctively met his as our kiss began to ignite a fire inside me that Rob had
extinguished long ago. Andy moaned quietly as he knotted his fingers firmly in my hair. I pulled him as close as I could get him, and before I knew it, he was reaching down, gripping me behind my knees, and lifting me onto the trunk of my car.

Synopsis 3

After an accident lands Zoey in the hospital, her life, once again, takes a turn in the wrong direction.

Andy starts acting differently and won’t talk to her about what is bothering him. He’s distant and broody, and the closer it gets to Zoey’s upcoming vacation, the more unsettling Andy’s behavior becomes.

Once Zoey leaves for vacation, life doesn’t get any easier for her, until she begins to volunteer at a local horse ranch. There she meets Josie, a former therapist, who spent her career helping orphans. While she is working at the ranch, unbeknownst to her, Josie is helping Zoey better herself and heal.

Zoey and Andy both realize they have issues from their troubling pasts that need to be dealt with during the month that Zoey is gone, and they agree to work on them. By the time she comes home, they’ve both succeeded at putting their previous tragedies behind them and are looking forward to their future together.

On what should be the happiest day of their lives, Andy is completely blindsided by disturbing news from his past. While Andy is away and trying desperately to find out if the information he’s received is true, Zoey suspects a life changing situation that could either ruin her and Andy, or make them completely whole.

Can their relationship survive Andy’s devastation, or will their lives fall apart forever? Will Zoey find it within her newfound strength to hold them together?
Excerpt:
I watched Andy as he smashed the clutch and gas pedals as he shifted through the gears. And as quick as it started, it was over. I checked the reader board; he gained some time and speed with the second pass leaving the other racecar in the dust.

The car turned down the return road and we took our helmets off. “That was so fucking awesome!” I yelled over the noise of the motor and exhaust system. He looked over at me with a sexy grin on his face. “I’m glad you enjoyed it. You ready to go home now?”

Watching him race, pounding pedals and shifting gears, turned me on. He was in his element at the track, and seeing him race like that had me wanting him right there. I nodded and squeezed his thigh. I was ready to take him to bed, and the way he was looking at me, I was pretty sure he was thinking the same thing I was.

We made our way back to the car trailer and I quickly unbuckled myself and pulled my skirt back down to a decent length, then hopped out of the car.

Later, Andy pulled through the gate at the shop and backed the trailer into the space next to the fence. I jumped out and unhooked the trailer for him so he could park his truck.
After seeing me change the tires on my car after Rob slashed them months ago, he thought it
was hot when I helped with things like that. I opened the side door of the trailer, then flipped the light on inside to get the small ice chest and a few other items we had packed for our night at the drag races.
When I turned around, Andy was standing in the doorway of the trailer. He had that look on his face. Oh my. He stepped inside and pulled the door shut behind him.
“Do you know how fucking hot you looked with your skirt hiked up around your hips, strapped down in my car?” he asked as he stalked over to me.

Andy backed me up against the front of his car. I was so ready for whatever he planned on doing to me. I wrapped my arms around him as he ran his hands down the back of my thighs to lift me up onto the hood of the Camaro. He kissed me fiercely, his tongue darting into my mouth, licking and tasting.
He broke our kiss just long enough to pull my shirt off over my head. Swiftly, he unsnapped my bra and pulled it off, tossing it onto the hood of the car.
I pushed his shirt up and he pulled it the rest of the way off for me as I undid the button and
zipper of his pants. I pushed his pants and boxers down over his hips to free his cock. He backed up long enough to reach up under my skirt to pull my panties off. I kicked off my sandals to put my feet on the front bumper for balance. He pushed my skirt up my hips then lifted me up and forward so my ass was at the edge of the hood.
He kissed me again before he pushed me backward so I was lying on the hood. He knelt down in front of the car, gently pushing my legs apart. Holy fuck…I am gonna enjoy the hell outta this.

Synopsis 3
For Zoey James, life hadn’t always been easy. Until she met Andy Tate. Things changed the second she met him, and she finally had a reason for breaking down the walls she had built around herself.

The beginning of her relationship with Andy was rocky at best, but eventually they built a life together. A beautiful life.

The day Andy proposed to Zoey, she said yes.

That same night, Andy was completely blindsided by news from his past. He had lost yet another person to death. A person he didn’t even know existed.
Devastated by the news, Andy made a rash decision and moved home to New Zealand. Without Zoey.

But now, Zoey is given news that will change both of their lives forever. Instead of Zoey building the walls back up around her, she makes a choice to fight.

She is fighting for her happiness, fighting for Andy, and most of all, she is fighting for the life that they have created together.

And she has no intention of losing.

Excerpt

“Come on baby girl,” I said as I rested my palm against my belly. “Let’s go get your daddy and bring him home.”

Once I arrived in the waiting area to board the plane, it hit me that I was on my own until I reached New Zealand, and I had never been more scared in my life.
My friends and family were so supportive of me, but it was time for me to go to Andy, and support him. He was devastated by his loss, but I had all the answers he needed. I hoped it would be enough, and he would come home with me. I was willing to give up everything to be with him and our daughter. I would give up my store, my apartment, and my life in Sacramento if I had to. Before Andy, I never would’ve considered it, but he and our little girl meant more to me than any possession.

Wanting to be alone with my thoughts, I found a seat away from everyone. I pulled my iPod out of my purse, set it to shuffle and people watched while I waited for the call to board the plane.

I was too nervous to do anything else.

As I waited for the plane to take me to him, the perfect song came on, and it helped calm my nerves. “Set Fire to the Third Bar” had the exact lyrics I needed to get me in the right mindset for my trip. The lyrics talked about looking at a map and being only inches away from the one you loved, but being so far away physically. I was just inches away from him on a map, but over six thousand miles separated us.

I played it a few times in a row, and by the time I moved on to the next song, I was feeling more confident with my decisions. People began stirring around me, so I took my earbuds out and put my iPod away.

It was time to board the plane.

Author Bio

I am a self-published author of the Just Say Yes series. There are three books in the series, The Reason, Just Say Yes, and Beautiful With You. All three books are about the same couple, Zoey and Andy.
I reside in Northern California with my husband, Jake, and all of our rescued pets. I was born and raised in a ‘car family’ so I’ve always been around old Chevy’s.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d become a writer, even though it’s in my blood. My grandfather was a self-published writer as well in the 50’s and 60’s, publishing four or five books before he passed away in the early 70’s.

So far, I have four books written, and three more on the back burner that I will work on as my busy life allows. I work full time, and writing is a hobby, along with my other favorite hobby, photography.

In my “spare” time, aka vacation, I love to travel! My ultimate vacation has been to New Zealand, where we saw my favorite sports team, The All Blacks, play an amazing rugby match. We also visited Hobbiton where The Shire scenes from The Lord of the Rings was filmed. I plan to travel back to New Zealand as many times as I can!

So that is me. I am quirky, tattooed, music addicted, loyal, protective, and just me. 🙂

Review

5 Pennies

I didn’t think 69 Bottles could heat up the pages anymore than they did in the first book, but I was so wrong.  This book has even more HOT & STEAMY SEX scenes with Addison and her 2 men.  This story also has drama, not just the drama that comes when a girl has 2 guys that she is in love with, but also the drama that comes with fame and fortune.

Addison seems to have it all, 2 VERY HOT guys who adore her and seem to be willing to do anything for her.  But what happens when her fame as a singer starts to grow through social media.  Can Talon and Kyle handle it or will jealousy rear its ugly head?

These two guys seem to come together and make the absolutely perfect man.  So it isn’t impossible to believe that Addison could fall in love with both of them.  Throughout this book we see their relationship grow not only between Addison and the guys, but also between the two guys.  They are getting more in touch with their feelings and it is quite the journey.

I enjoyed seeing the different sides of the band members in this book.  Even Dex is growing on me, I think along with his shock value there is a sweet and caring guy that just has to find the right way to let it out.  It is fun to see the relationship that Addison has with the band members evolve during the tour, as well as with the security detail.

When danger threatens the happy trio, it not only affects them but it has an effect on the entire band.  We really get to see everyone’s true feelings and the since of family being revealed when they all come together to support each other.

I am so glad to know that it won’t be long till the next book, because the point where we are left hanging is breathtaking and leaves us wondering what is next for Addison, Talon and Kyle as well as the band…..Thank you Zoey Derrick for writing an amazingly fun-loving, sexy, hot and rocking book series….

This book has love, mystery, intrigue, lies, deceit, murder and friendship all in one.  It is a book that grabs your attention and keeps you guessing.

Julia Fisher thought she found her true love in high school, but he broke her heart right before she left for her summer overseas with her friend.   With unanswered letters, texts and phone calls, Julia decided she had to move on in her life even with a broken heart and no answers.

Brian Evans couldn’t understand how Julia could just give up on their relationship like she did, but when she left for the summer after sending him a break up text, he was angry and so he left.  But after six years he has decided to come back.  Now the real fun was about to begin.

When Brian saw Julia for the first time in her shop, it was like his world came to a stop.  It was obvious from their first interaction after all of these years they still had chemistry and many unresolved feelings.

I loved every minute of this book.  At times I thought Brian was acting like a real jerk when he came back 6 years later, but as the story goes on and more information is revealed there is just so much more!!!!  Let’s just say this book has twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting.  But I enjoyed every minute of this journey.  Alexis Noelle you have done it again.  This book is a great read that keeps the reading engaged from start to finish.  I can’t wait to see what you will have for us next

Review

4 Pennies

This book asks the question can two broken people come together to make a relationship that works?

Clark is the epitome of a male-slut.  He enjoys his one-night stands and doesn’t believe in letting the women get the upper hand in the relationship.  He was brought up from an early edge believing that women aren’t going to stick around, so it is better to leave them before they have a chance to leave you.

Aubrey has her own issues with relationships that stem from issues from her teen years.  She has been told that she isn’t worth anything, and the only thing she is good for is her body.  So her way to cope is also having meaningless sex.

Clark and Aubrey’s emotional baggage is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what is holding them back from being able to find a lasting relationship with some form of commitment.

When reading the book I really got sucked into the life of Aubrey and Clark, they are very real and relatable.

Throughout this book we gain more insight into not only Clark and Aubrey but also their group of friends.  They have an amazing support system within their circle of friends and we get to see this time and time again throughout the book.

Josie Bordeauzx covers some pretty hard-core issues throughout this book and does it with dignity and respect for the content.

There is just so much emotion throughout this book; it can take a toll on the reader.  That being said I do believe it is well worth the time, once I began reading it I couldn’t put it down.  The dynamic among the characters throughout the book was captivating and made me sad to see the story end.  Thank you Josie for an amazing read!!!!

I’d take off my heels and throw them at his face if they weren’t so expensive.

Why? Because my boss, the sexy, billionaire bad boy Leo King, wants me to be his wife.

That’s right. His wife. Except, it isn’t real. It’s all pretend so his family believes it, and I’m supposed to go along with it.

Asshole doesn’t even begin to describe him, and it’s only going to get worse. Especially because his cocky attitude and sudden interest in my private life make it difficult to concentrate on something other than his sexual innuendos. 3.5 Pennies

The start of this novella had me shaking my head.  An assistant who hates her boss vehemently and calls him names.  She puts up with his antics because she earns a nice wage.  Okay, I get that.

He asks her to participate in a ruse which will require her to spend much more time with him, portray something they are not and a few months later, just go back to how things are.  Interesting twist.

But then during work hours she reaches out to a friend in the virtual friend and sneaks off to the restroom to participate in some completely inappropriate behavior.  Hmmmm….. this one threw me for a loop.

So the story moves along and when my mind moves past the bad behavior of both characters, I actually find the story picking up steam.  By the end, and a very unexpected twist, I have to say that this was a fun quick read that has lots of potential for some interesting turns.  And while I believe I have already figured out a sub plot in the book, I am looking forward to reading more to see if I am correct and how the author plans to introduce this bombshell into the series.

Excerpt

“C’mon in. I want to see what you bought,” he says, winking.

I lick my lips, suddenly very aware of this dress plastered around my curvy body. Gathering some courage, I step further inside. His eyes skim me, starting at the bottom all the way to the top, slowly taking me in. He’s taking his time sucking up this image of me, which makes me wonder what in the hell is going through his head.

“Is it any good?” I ask, focusing on the dress instead of his eyes eye-fucking me.

“Oh …” he grunts. He seriously grunts. “Yes.”

I stare at him with raised eyebrows, not able to utter a single word.

“Close the door behind you,” he says.

I do as he says, but then when I turn my head back to him, he’s right in front of me. Instinctively, I take a step back, but I’m already against the door, and there’s no way out.

“It’s more than just ‘good’ …” he murmurs, licking his lips.

Oh Jesus, why did I look at his lips?

“You look like someone who should have dressed like this way long ago.”

My lips quiver. They never quiver. Goddammit, Sam, get your act together!

“And what’s that supposed to mean?” I say, swallowing away the lump in my throat.

He keeps inching closer. I keep trying to push further back into this door, but unfortunately, it’s not made of rubber.

His voice turns raw, laden with testosterone. “It means I think you look … sexy.”

Oh my god, I think I just died.

“Don’t look so surprised.” A smirk appears on his face. “Just because I’m an asshole, doesn’t mean I’m not a man.”

“I never thought you’d–”

“What? That I could ever think a woman like you is sexy?”

“I didn’t say that …”

“No, just you. I know what you’re thinking.” He takes a pluck of my hair and tucks it behind my ear. It feels like I’m dreaming, and I’m almost tempted to pinch my arm just to prove to myself that I am.

“Contrary to what you may think of me, you know nothing about my tastes,” he muses. “And my taste right now is you.”

My lips part. “W-What?”

“Oh, it’s purely for professional reasons, Miss Webber. If we’re to make a convincing couple, we’d have to kiss some time.”
