Written by Sara York

Published on September 29, 2014

Synopsis 3

With international flights crisscrossing the skies on an hourly basis, are we ever really safe?

When a strain of the Ebola virus mutates; it spreads quickly leaving the medical community shattered. People are dropping in the streets and life, as most know it, comes to an end. Two city dweller survivors, Dean and William, are forced to flee the city and live in the wilderness—where dangers lurk behind every tree and in every valley. Not everyone alive after the end is good, and William and Dean are faced with challenges that would bring many to their knees.

Growing up in the hood of Atlanta, Dean knows how to overcome trials, but he knows nothing of love. Can he sustain a relationship with William, or will his doubts end them before they even have a chance?

From birth William has had a silver spoon in his mouth and two in each hand, but the end brings him face to face with reality where he has to take responsibility for his life. After the end, money has no meaning, and life is lived on the edge.

Join William and Dean after the end and find out how close to the edge they come.

Sara York has brought out a nightmare of a situation, and allowed us to view and experience the downfall of the world, but still was able to show us hope in this wonderful book.

There have been books written about the end of civilization, and while this book is fiction, it still allows the reader to feel like “what if”, and for that I have to say thank you.

Nobody wants to think of the end of the world as we know it, but to see how these two characters deal with everything and learn how to survive and trust in each other is awe inspiring. There are many twists and turns, but as found in life, sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way you thought.

To see how Dean over comes his fear of what he thought love meant, and how William was able to put his fear of what others thought was wonderful for me. That is what I find so refreshing about this book. While this book brings about the end of modern civilization in a way, it also shows just how strong we are, or how strong we can be.

Author Bio

Writing is Sara York’s life. The stories fight to get out, often leaving her working on four or five books at once. She can’t help but write. Along with her writing addiction she has a coffee addiction. Some nights, the only reason she stops writing and goes to sleep is for the fresh brewed coffee in the morning.

Sara enjoys writing twisted tales of passion, anger, and love with a good healthy dose of lust thrown in for fun.

Locke (Corps Security, #5)

Written by Harper Sloan

Published on September 29, 2014

Synopsis 3Darkness is the only thing I see. Ever since the day my life changed. The day that everything and everyone I held close to me ceased to exist. The day I lost it all and the demons of my past consumed my every waking moment.

I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.

If I hadn’t been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn’t have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.

She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.

I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

Review5 PenniesHarper Sloan has done it again. Her Corps Security men are some of the most loving, alpha, dream worthy men I have read, and Maddox Locke is no exception.

We have seen glimpses of Maddox in the previous books, and the mystery behind him was well worth the wait for this book. Maddox had always been the silent warrior, the one who always helped when it was needed, and there was always something behind him that made me wonder, what happened to this man…..well, lets just say, that what this poor man had to deal with in his past was so much more than I had ever expected.

While this book is just as hot as the previous ones, there was something else. To finally find out what had happened to this man, not only personally – but also what he went through while serving in the military….I wish I could do so much more than just be a reader, Harper Sloan is one writer that is able to bring a reader into the story, making you feel like you are just as much as a part of the story, not just reading it…I felt like I was living it with them.

Maddox has his reasons behind trying to deny his feelings for Emmy, while we don’t know what it is, or why he is fighting it so hard, when the story unravels, you can’t help but wish you could go into the story to hurt those that have hurt him. Emmy’s life hasn’t been any easier, and to find out what she has had to deal with and to see her fight for someone else, when I’m not sure how I would have been able to deal with what she lived with….she is as strong as those alpha men, just like all the other ladies… is a perfect group of strong, but yet damaged men – finding their own strong, but damaged women. If you haven’t had a chance to read this series, please do so. Start with Axel and work your way up. Not only will you fall in love with these men and women, the kids are also such a great addition. This might be the end for the Corps men/women, but I will always remember these guys, and the hints of what is to come with the kids…..sign me up for that series as well.

Harper, I just want to say thank you for allowing us all to read about these great characters and to feel like they are real people, fighting and finding their happily ever afters….life is not always easy to deal with, but to be able to see what happens to other people if they are real or not, to me they are real and they are my friends.

Author BioHarper lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed ‘Estrogen Ocean’, much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero–the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn’t take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.

Full Disclosure is the second in the Nice Guys Series, and if you have not had the chance to meet these guys yet, be sure and pick up Double Full – it’s well worth the read.

In Full Disclosure, we get to see Mitch, Colt, and Jace – and to top it off, we get to meet Cody too!!  If you haven’t had the chance to read a m/m novel, here is your chance – although I would highly recommend reading Double Full first, it is the first in the series, and the story is continued with Full Disclosure.

I couldn’t put this book down, I knew as soon as I started this book, that the family could fend for themselves until I finished, I was completely absorbed in the world of Mitch and Cody, and as much as I loved this book, and this series, I wish it wouldn’t have ended. This story had me falling in love, and biting my nails all at the same time. Kindle Alexander has written another story that has just found its way into my favorite folder on my kindle, and I can’t wait until I get a chance to read it again.

Cody is the type of guy that you could find anywhere, he is a down home, loveable man – he might not be hiding, but he is very private with his personal life, and for good reason. When he meets Mitch in a club, he is put on a roller coaster ride that will forever change him.

Mitch is the man who will fight for what he knows is right, he has been fighting trying to find out who hurt Colt, along with other gay men, and it has not been an easy battle for him – he has been doing so much on his own, that when a break in the case comes along, he is not sure how to navigate through all the new waters.

While Cody might think Mitch is just a player, he soon realizes that Mitch is so much more than muscles and tattoos. Mitch is trying to get Cody to let down his walls and let him in.

Can these two believe in themselves along with each other to finally find what they both are searching for? Or will unforeseen circumstances change their future in ways neither is ready for?

Kindle Alexander has done it again, I can’t express how much emotions this book was able to bring out in me, I fell in love with the charaters, I feared for them, I was angry at the circumstances they found themselves in, all in all this book took me on a journey that I will remember for the rest of my days. I am awe struck with the emotions that this author can bring out, not only in her characters, but also the readers. My heartfelt thanks go to Kindle Alexander for writing and allowing me to read and enjoy such a wonderful story.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.
That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.
Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.
Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

Review4 Pennies

Love and Punishment is another gripping read by Susan Mac Nicol.

This book is filled with suspense, love, and yes – fear. From the very beginning, you are pulled into the world of Anthony and Flynn and even the Bow Tie Killer (BTK). Yes, in this story, you get to read the bad guys POV, it was such a compelling book that I couldn’t put it down.

The joys of reading Susan Mac Nicol’s books is that they are not your typical read…they are filled with angst, love, and some really hot guys.

Anthony is a detective, he is not shy about his pov on the BTK, he wants justice and while some might not agree with his beliefs – he stands by them. Anthony has lost his brother, and if he can’t find justice in that killing, nothing will stop him from finding and stopping the BTK.

Flynn is a reporter, he has voiced his wishes to tell BTK’s story, which puts him in the line of danger. When Flynn meets BTK, he is threatened and he will do what he needs to do to protect those who are important to him.

BTK is smart, and dangerous. He walks among us, and no one has any clue just how dangerous he is. He is able to put on his “mask” and leave no one being the wiser as to who the monster behind the mask is.

The secondary characters in this story are so loveable, that I wasn’t able to stop myself from yelling at them, trying to get them to figure out who was who before it was too late. I can say that Susan has a fan in this reader, has for a while, but with the way this woman writes…I can’t wait to see what is next.

‘Author of contemporary romance novels, wannabe scripts, independent, pain in the bum, humorous, driven, prone to strong opinion.’

I’ll leave off the last bit of my profile. It relates to a fascination I have with a certain young British actor called Benedict Cumberbatch who was the inspiration for my leading man, Bennett Saville, in my Starlight trilogy.

I was born in the UK, moved to Johannesburg, South Africa 42 years ago, and of that I’ve been back in the UK since 2000, loving every minute.

Some of the highlights of my life – apart from getting married, having kids and moving countries – I’ve been picked up by a punter who thought I was a prostitute (there is a proper story behind this, I promise) , been involved in a car smash much like the heroine, Cassie, in Cassandra by Starlight, (only not as a result of a falling body on my car!), become a Wiccan, spent time in Kenya, where my older sister was born, and had a dream of being published recognised with my debut novel.

Captured by Jasinda and Jack Wilder ~ Review ~ Penny Pam

Posted on

Written by Jasinda and Jack Wilder

Published August 12, 2014

 Synopsis 3

Love is never easy. It’s especially difficult when you love a career Marine. I knew the risk when I said “I do”, but I chose to love Thomas anyway.

War took him from me, and now I’m alone. Struggling and desperate. There’s no hope, no future. Just the endless cycle of day-to-day survival. But a letter returned will change all of that.

Hope and companionship, and even love, often come from the last place you’d think to look, when you least expect it.

* * *

I was a lost, broken soul, a Marine tortured by the memories of what I’d endured. When I visited that old farmhouse in rural Texas, all I wanted to do was return the letter. Keep a promise.

What I got was healing. Understanding. The chance to find a measure of peace when all I’ve ever known is war.

We both lost everything. But in each other, we found something worth fighting for.

I find writing this review to be one of the hardest I have ever written. I’m not sure my words can do this book the justice it so greatly deserves. I will admit, I read Wounded, and fell instantly in love with the war hero and heroine, and yes – I was a little nervous to pick this book up. I wanted it to live up to my expectations, although I had no idea how high they were until I started reading this book, but I am so happy I swallowed my fears and decided to take the chance. Captured not only lived up to my expectations, but exceeded them to the point I’m not sure if I will be able to pick up another “military” themed book and not use this as the highest possible expectations around.

This book grabbed me from the start, and through all the emotional turmoil that I went through, I only wish I could read this all over again (which I will undoubtedly do) without knowing what will come next. There are a few books I have read that have made me wish I could turn back time, just so I could read the book for the “first” time over and over, and this is one of them.

The hero in this story is just that, a hero. He is the type of hero we all look at and wish we could do more than just say thank you (at least I do). And the heroine, is the type of woman I wish I could be, strong, faithful, hopeful…..and still human, still having doubts and fears, but not running from anything. The Wilder’s are a terrific writing duo, and this book is testament to that.

If you are looking for a book that will have you laughing, crying, rooting for the characters, and yet not wanting to reach the end of the book because you know it will be over and you don’t want it to end……I recommend this book, I only wish I could shout from the highest rooftop to let you all know, just how much I loved this book. I’m sure you are wondering, where my review is…..the truth is, I can’t write one, I don’t have the words to be able to express everything this book made me feel. I will say, if I ever get a chance to meet a “Derek” or a “Reagan” I will without a doubt, give them my biggest heartfelt thanks, and a bone crushing hug……and for that I have to also say the same for Jasinda and Jack, a hug and a thank you is in order when I get the chance to meet up with you wonderful writers.

5 Stars just isn’t enough for this book!!!!

Offside by Shay Savage ~ Review ~ Penny Pam

Written by Shay Savage

Published on August 3, 2014

Synopsis 3

I have to be the best. I am the best. I’m quick. I’m strong. I’m smart. I’m the star keeper of my high school soccer team, and I’ve got major leagues scouting me. As their captain, my teammates will do anything I say – on or off the field. Girls practically beg to be added to my list of conquests. As long as I manage to go pro for the best team in the world, I won’t have to worry about my father’s wrath.

I’m Thomas Malone, and I’ve seen to it that the world revolves around me.

There’s a new girl at school, and it’s just a matter of time before she gives in to my charm. This one’s just a little more stubborn than most – she won’t even tell me her name! She’s smart, too. Maybe too smart. I can’t let her in. I can’t let anybody in. I’m not too worried, but even I have to admit she’s interfering with my focus on the goal.
Dad’s not going to be happy about that.

Did I mention I love Shakespeare? Yeah, I know. I’m a walking contradiction. According to the Bard, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” Somehow, I got all three.

Now how is anyone supposed to live up to that?

4.5 Pennies

I have said it before and I will say it again, Shay Savage is THE writer for a male POV.

I enjoyed this book a great deal, and I am a bit embarrassed to say that I had no idea that this was a fan fic based on Twilight, I know – I am hanging my head in shame, but with that being said, if I must admit to everyone – Twilight started my reading as an adult, I have read those books more than once and I still didn’t find many similarities while reading Offside. If I sit and think really hard about it, I guess there are some, but for me while reading Offside – it was not obvious and if I had never found out about the fan fic part of it, I never would have noticed. Does that mean I am not a observant reader? I don’t think so, but others may not agree……to each their own, I guess.

Now, on to my review……

Offside is about Thomas, he is a soccer God, and with his father’s influence, he believes himself untouchable….but while reading, you can see that even though he was adored and thought everything revolved around himself, Thomas was not happy (don’t get me wrong, the guy was happy – just not all the time) and his life was not as perfect as everyone around him thought. My heart broke for him, it is hard when others put you on a pedestal, I mean really, just think about it…who would want that kind of pressure? So, Thomas is doing what he can to get where he thinks he should be, and then out of the blue he runs into what could be the one to change everything.

Nicole/Rumple is new to the town, when she seems to have caught the eye of the most popular boy around, but does she want his attention? Rumple has had a rocky past, a few mistakes were made and that has made her into the girl she is. She is able to see through all of Thomas’ costumes and finds the real person behind the masks, but can she keep the real person from dawning another costume, just to be who he thinks he is supposed to be?

Then we get into the drama of the story, Thomas’ father, and the accident that happens…there were times I wish I could have just crawled into my kindle to take Thomas away, to show him the love and understanding a parent should show their children, but I couldn’t – all I could do was continue reading, and hoping that things would change. While we watch Thomas try and overcome so much in this story, we see that there are secrets that even I wasn’t expecting, which brought on a round of fear for what was to come.

While writing this review, I have tears in my eyes – for Thomas, Rumple, Thomas’ father….everyone, this is a story that just makes you realize the grass is not always greener on the other side, sometimes the grass is just a bunch of well cut weeds. I would love to give so many thanks to the one and only Shay Savage, you bring your male characters to life, and make me as a reader fall in love with them, flaws and all.

Written by Pepper Winters

Published on August 18, 2014

She is no longer free.

There are no rules. Only payments.

A modern day Dark Erotic Romance

3.5 Pennies

Debt Inheritance is a dark erotic romance, so you have been warned.

Jethro is the kind of character I really enjoyed reading about, he is thrust into his fate on his 29th birthday, and he has to deal with what comes with it.  I don’t think Jethro expected the feelings he found with Nila, and I truly can’t wait to see what happens next.  This book doesn’t end with what I would call a “cliffie”, but it does make you want the next book that much more.

Nila is sheltered, her father and brother are always around, so she is so naïve with not only men, but the world as well.  She is thrust into paying a debt she had no idea even existed, and how she copes with that is the entertaining part of this book.  Did I enjoy Nila as a character? Yes, but only because of Jethro….I want to see what she grows into, what she will become, and in turn I can’t wait to see the same for Jethro.

This book is not easy for me to review, I enjoyed it, but I have to admit…the wait just may kill me slowly.  I  am a lover of series, with that being said when I pick up the first in a series, I always wonder if it is something I will continue to read or if it is going to be a “one and your out” type thing, and I want to read the next book, but it is because of Jethro that makes me feel that way.

If dark romances is your thing, then you will enjoy this book…if this is not your usual genre, well then – I’m not sure what to tell you. 😉

Author Bio

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.

Deciding Tomorrow is the 3rd of the These Days series.

I was so excited to read the conclusion for Ruby and Brent, from the very first book I was invested in their story and as much as I wanted to get to the end, I also didn’t want to.  This story is so emotionally driven, neither character is perfect (although Brent is pretty darn close) and to see them come back together was just something I couldn’t wait to see.

There were times where I was yelling at my kindle, I mean Ruby is great, but her insecurities and fears were really wearing me down.  I get it Ruby, I do, but sometimes you just have to let go of everything you hold so close and go with it.

I felt bad for Brent, he was doing what he thought Ruby wanted, and in turn hurt them both.  I get that life, friends, and family always take the side of the person closest to you, but this book just made me realize there are always two sides of a story, and as much as we want to support and be there for the ones closest to us…we should always have an open mind for the other person too.

Ruby’s life was never easy, and when she did what she thought was right (and for her it probably was), she still ended up hurting herself in the long run (IMO).  You can grab ahold of what life throws your way and fight for everything you hold close, or you can go in another direction…that is the fun thing about life, sometimes the path that is filled with the most fear is the path that you are destined to take.

For me as a reader, I don’t like the easy books, I like a challenge, I like the unknown, I like to travel the path that may be hard to stay on, and to me this book showed many paths that many characters took.  I enjoyed this book, and while I might have chosen a different path for myself, that is the joys of reading….it is not your life, it is someone else’s.  As a person who loves to read, I think I always take a little something from each book I read, and try to put in place the best of what I found, and this book just shows that if things are meant to be, they will be.

Holidays with the Walkers is a great filler and also a great intro into the stories for the remaining Walker Brothers.  If you haven’t had the chance to read their stories yet, please do so.

To watch this family of Walkers go through their Holidays, is a treat for all.  We get to see just how much each and everyone of them loves each other, and their parents.

The glimpses into what the future books will hold was such a great thing for me, I am a huge Nicole Edwards fan, that even the little snipits into what will be going on with Sawyer, the twins, and Ethan….just wow!

This may not be a conventional holiday book, but not much is conventional when it comes to the Walker men, but they have each earned a spot in my heart and a spot on my kindle that belongs to the hotness that Nicole and the Walker Brothers bring.

The book is not all sex though, there are many sweet moments, the gifts that they all give just show the love that this family is known for.

While I would not suggest reading this book as a standalone, as you will miss the dynamics that make up the couples, it is still a great read, and to have an idea of what is to come……I can’t wait for those books!!

Thank you to the wonderful Nicole Edwards for making my holidays, just a little more brighter – and a lot steamier.

If you have read the previous books in the MC Sinners series, you have to read this one as well.  Can I just say, Muff…..oh my.

Holidays are always spent with friends and families, and in the MC world there isn’t anything more important than family and we get to see just how important family is with this group.

Muff and Janine are just starting out, trying to figure out the whole couple thing.  Janine has a past that she is trying to take care of, and the last thing she wants to do is dump all of her problems onto Muff, but just as things seem to maybe be working out, there is a problem, and for the MC Sinners, one problem always brings another.

But that is the joy of having such great family/friends… matter what, they have each others backs.  And let’s not forget the heat, Bella Jewel’s guy and gals can sure turn the heat up, and like I said before………..Muff.  Now, to completely understand the who’s and why’s of this book, you really need to read the other books in the series, but just remember this book, when the temperature starts to drop, and you just know that at one of the holiday parties you will most likely have to attend, you can always bring the Sinners with you.
