Review5 Pennies

OMG, this book is a total MIND-F@%$!!!! Francette Phal has created a book that you can’t put down, because you feel like you might miss something.

Lacey is not your typical high school senior.  Against all odds she is a great student with a potential future if her brother (Dante) and mother would just get out of her life.  But that doesn’t look possible.  She plays the keeper and supporter of both of them. She is working hard on securing her ability to go to college, even if it is not the most conventional way.

When Dante takes a loan that he is unable to repay, Lacey steps in again to fix his problem.  This is the beginning of the end of life as Lacey has known it until now.

After making a deal with the Devil known as Knox to save her brother’s life, Lacey is living in a state of unrest, unsure of what is going to happen next.

Knox is a psychopath without a soul; he finds relief in his job as the butcher and enjoys it.  He is gorgeous, built, dominant male that does what he likes without any second thought.  But the day he makes the deal with Lacey is a changing point and he can’t quite figure out why.  He has a fascination with her and plans on having his fun.

There is so much in this story. It amazes me how Francette Phal was able to create such an amazingly dark story that is captivating and alluring.  It kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was in store next for Lacey, what evil plan was Katia up too, or what would be Knox’s next step with Lacey and his job.  Knox might be a psychopath but I believe there is so much more to come with him.  The dynamic that he creates makes for an actually loveable character (ok that probably makes me sound crazy, but I don’t care.)  I LOVED this book and can’t wait to see what will happen NEXT!!!!

  15. OMG! I LOVE CJ Robert’s Dark Duet series and Pam Goodwin’s Beneath the Burn! ❤ Captive in the Dark is my first dark read which made me fall in love with darker and grittier romances 😉 What can I say? Caleb/James has ruined me for others and I'll never be quite that vanilla anymore. Lol! There's just so much more emotion, struggles and pain in a dark read that sucks you in… and the HEA is so much more rewarding! Plus, the heroines are such kickass, strong women! I definitely 1-clicked this and would highly recommend it! Shared on Facebook. Thanks!
