THE GIRL HE KNOWS

Waking up naked next to a good looking man is not a bad way to start the day. Especially since Paisley missed all those opportunities in college, when she was too busy supporting her no good, thankfully now, ex-husband. The problem? This hottie is Hank, her best friend’s older brother, a guy she’s known her entire life.
Stopping after one night is the right thing to do. Being with him clearly breaks the best friend code, and from his career as a Naval officer to his Boy Scout reputation, everything about him screams monogamy and commitment. Two things Paisley has had enough of.
When Hank presents a “no strings attached” offer, it’s too good to be true. She can enjoy him while still embracing being single. But, poor choices force her to confront old fears of love and loss, and Paisley has to decide if Hank is worth the risk. The alternative is never experiencing the real deal. Or far worse, settling for less
I knew from the start of the book that I was going to love it. How can you not love a book that starts out with a girl being naked in bed, next to a naked man and to the sounds of his mom telling him it is time to wake up… (You just have to laugh!!!)
Paisley and Gigi have been friends all their lives, Hank just happens to be Gigi’s older brother. Paisley has not been going through the best time in her life, since her divorce just over a year ago. She is trying to reclaim her missed college years of no-strings attached sex, but she never meant for it to happen with her best friend’s brother.
Hank is a HOT service man, with tattoos, a great sense of humor, and a gorgeous body. Him and Paisley grew up together and have always had a very strong connection. Hank travels frequently for the service and has just returned home to Jacksonville Florida from Japan. He and Paisley decided to go out on the town, a few drinks later and many hours later, they end up in his childhood home having quite the night. Neither one of them had any idea of what crazy possibilities lay ahead of them after this one crazy night…
This book has it all; HOT sex, a crazy Nana, perfect & nosey sister, great friends, drama, and undeniable love. There were times that I was crying for the pain that Hank was experiencing, yelling at Paisley to get her head out of her ass, and laughing at the shenanigans that her Nana would cause. When Paisley walked into her mother’s house to find her Nana and mother drunk, it was priceless to her what Nana had to say:
“Ye ken, Paisley, I’ve been thinking. Since ye’ve had a man and now Diana, have one, you’re free to run amok.” Paisley looks to her mother for translation. Nana states, “I’m sayin’ Paisley needs to do some shagging.”
Paisley had a rough time after her father passed away from a car crash. She grew up seeing what it meant to be in love and be loved through her parents; she also witnessed the anguish and depression her mother went through after his death. Paisley, still dealing with her feelings of failure in her own marriage, is having trouble moving forward in her life and possibilities of love.
This book shows how even after great tragedy and some epic fails in the love department you can still come back and reclaim your life. Paisley definitely does not take the easy road, but the road she does take makes for an emotionally driven storyline, that makes you want to believe in happily ever after.
Thank you, Kristi Rose for an amazing storyline, funny and very lovable characters. I was very sad to see the story end.
