Parker Radclyffe is up against a wall. Thorne Mansion, the mysterious Italianate castle she’s come to Texas to restore, isn’t the problem. No matter how intriguing the relic is, it’s merely an ember compared to the blazing magnetism of its owner, Chandler Thorne.
When his family mansion burned down, Chandler had to watch over a hundred years of proud history go up in smoke. After more than a year, he finally has everything in place to rebuild, including a renowned conservation architect to oversee the
restoration. But when he lays eyes on Parker he realizes he’s gotten more than he paid for. Maybe more than he can handle.
Parker is a military brat who never sits still long enough to get burned. Chandler is her opposite, a man with deep roots and deeper family secrets. It won’t be easy to find the common ground it takes to build a home together, but Chandler is a Thorne in every sense. He plans to stick with Parker until she sees that love is more than worth the risk.
Parker is an avid history whose latest restoration is taking her to Texas in the heat of summer. She is known for being the best conservation architect currently in that specialized field. After arriving at Bitterthorn, Parker quickly realizes that the temperature isn’t the only thing that is making her hot.
Chandler is a resident of Bitterthorn as well as editor of the Herald and the decedent and owner of the Thorne Mansion.
With their first encounter you knew it was going to be a very interesting job when they both had very similar thoughts…
Parker; “If she thought the sun was hot, it was nothing compared to the open-flame sizzle of his smile.”
Chandler; “The fever prickling his skin soared higher at the sight of that lovely freckled territory. (Shadow of cleavage he could see sitting across from her at his desk) Guess he had the answer to where this influx of head-swimming heat came from.”
I absolutely love the instant connection that we, as the reader, see from the first meeting between Parker and Chandler. The amazing passion that Parker has about her job and her love of history is wonderful to read about. It just made me love her and her spit-fire personality even more. Chandler’s love and commitment to his roots in the town founded by his family is another endearing quality in this very sexy and confident man.
Stacy Gail does an amazing job in the detail that she describes in this book. When Parker begins talking about what she sees in the historical buildings, Stacy makes it possible for the reader to see exactly what Parker is seeing. The chemistry that Stacy demonstrates through words when Parker and Chandler have their first kiss, made me feel present in the moment and it was breathtaking.
Thank you for an amazingly, witty, entertaining, sexy, HOT summer read!!!!!
“Stop.” His head thudded in time with the sounds from next door, and her babbling didn’t help. He pressed his fingers to her mouth, and when her eyes dilated before skittering in the direction of the noises, it dawned on him why she’d been talking so much. She’d heard what was happening next door, and if the awareness flushing her porcelain-pale skin like a fever was any indication, it affected her just as deeply as it did him.
“Last night I came all over myself because of you, Parker. Then I couldn’t sleep because you weren’t there when my hands needed to be filled with you. I find excuses to be where you are, when I’ve never made excuses for any damn thing in my life. I see you, and in my mind I’m ripping your clothes off because it kills me to see your body covered by something other than me. I’m the only thing that should cover you. I knew it from the moment I saw you. And whether you’ll admit it or not, I know you knew it too.”
Chandler didn’t know who made the move to close the distance between them. He didn’t care. He just knew her mouth was where it should be—under his and greedy for the hot fusion of lips and tongue and taste. The way she kissed blew his mind. It was like having sex with her mouth alone, and the wild thrill of it blistered through him with the mind-bending kick of a hard-core drug. His body burned from the inside out with the heated friction of her tongue against his, and with a ragged groan he hauled her up by that sweet little ass of hers and pressed her hard against the nearest wall so that the rising swell of his dick pressed at the cradle of her thighs. Nothing could have pleased him more when he felt her legs clamp around his waist so that her ankles hooked behind his back.
A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.
