This is the second book in the Blue Phoenix series. It begins were the last one left us, with the future of Sky and Dylan looking non-existent. They are both suffering in their own worlds, but not knowing how to reconnect.
I love the characters in these books. Sky is the epitome of the small town, down to earth girl that has not had the easiest go at life, especially with her recent interactions with Dylan and the band Blue Phoenix. In just a matter of weeks her quiet, boring life was turned upside down and now she just doesn’t know how to move forward in a life without her ‘Dylan’.
Dylan is in a pretty bad place at the beginning of this book. After Sky left, Dylan left on tour in the states with his band in an effort to get away from everything that reminded him of his ‘Summer Sky’. The problem is you can’t run away from true love and alcohol and drugs can only numb you for so long.
This book not only brings us closer to Sky and Dylan and their lives and struggles but also to the Blue Phoenix band. While on tour the band has its issues that cause them all to go on their separate ways for the holiday break. The events that transpire from their holidays are enough to keep their manager busy for quite awhile.
I absolutely LOVE this series and cannot wait until the next installment is released. There are many things throughout the book that Dylan and Sky say that are sometimes funny and sad, and sometimes filled with so much love and understanding you can hardly stand it. In this story Sky relates their story to fate and this quote is just too great not to share:
“Some say fate is written in the stars, and that we’re all made of pieces of the universe. It that’s true, what I have with Dylan makes sense. Our stars exploded long ago, the debris scattering across time. When we met the pieces pulled together, tiny fragments missing from our hearts and souls found their place. This has to be how the idea of soul mates exists, reconnecting pieces settling into each other and taking on the new world together. “
Thank you Lisa Swallow for another amazingly written book, I can’t wait to see what is in store for Sky and Dylan and the members of Blue Phoenix.
