Synopsis 3

Kaleb “Hawk” Tepes, as president of the Sons of Sangue and descendant of Vlad III, needs to keep his head focused on club business. Trouble is someone wants to divest him of it for a crime he committed against his vampire predecessors. He can’t afford distractions, especially those that come in the form of a five-foot-two sprite named Suzi, who once belonged to his nephew. In a moment of weakness, he makes a snap decision that can only spell trouble. Now faced with the one person who wants him dead, Kaleb must make the ultimate sacrifice or chance losing the only woman he truly desired forever.

Suzi Stevens has tried hard to put her past behind her and move forward. The one man she yearns for over all others, believes her to be nothing but cold-hearted. Hearing that someone has tried to behead him, she shelves past prejudices and rushes to his side, needing to see for herself that he’s all right. What she doesn’t count on is Hawk’s demand to take her as his personal blood donor. Now forced to endure his company, she fears losing her heart for all eternity to the one person who has the power to crush her.

Book Trailer

5 Pennies

After the sentence was handed down to Viper to step down as President after he broke the rules of the club, Hawk(Kaleb), Kane’s twin, stepped up from Vice President to become President.   This book starts approximately six months after Viper stepped down.  After stepping down Kane and Cara disappeared and no one in the MC had known where they had gone, but knew after time they would come back.

Throughout this book we get to learn a lot more about the history between Hawk and Suzi.  They have a love and hate relationship that goes both ways.  Suzi has been a member of the donor society for the last ten years and had serviced many of the Son’s of Sangue during that time.  But no matter how hard she tried, she could never forget about the connection she had with Hawk when she lost her virginity to him at the age of 18.

Hawk didn’t see anything but hatred when he looked at Suzi, or at least that is what he would tell himself.  He thought she was a ‘cold-hearted bitch’ that didn’t deserve anything, which is what led him to take her on as his personal donor and she could service no one else.  He saw this as a way to punish her and make her pay for the past.  Hawk didn’t know that by doing this he would not only torture her but himself as well.

After the first book I wasn’t too sure how I could like Kaleb, since he seemed to be a playboy vampire who just used the women for his own needs and cared about no-one but himself.  Throughout this book, I got to see not only a new side of him, but also some of the other brothers as well.  This opened my eyes and reminded me of the commitment and devotion that the MC members showed to each others and those they cared for.

This book has a lot of drama between not only the MC with the primordial’s from Italy, namely Rosalie, but also with the Knights MC and whoever was trying to behead Hawk.   The raw emotion and attraction between Hawk and Suzi drew me in and made me wish for a happy ending to occur among all the madness.  The author does not disappoint in this book and I can’t wait to see what will come next for the Son’s of Sangue MC in the next book.

“I didn’t come here to bring up old wounds.”

“Then why are you here?”

“Because I fooled myself into thinking I cared…” She stopped herself from saying about you. “I heard about Wheezer and Red Dot. I had to come to see if you were all right. I’m sorry now that I did. I should’ve let you wallow in your self-hatred.”

He stared hard at her, enough so she wished she could read what was going on behind those black hypnotic eyes. She wasn’t sure if he wanted to leap the counter and strangle her, or kiss her senseless. Though she preferred the latter, Suzi knew the repercussions of those actions would crush her. Before she could stop him, he vaulted the bar effortlessly and now stood mere inches from her. She could smell Jack Daniel’s on him, that and his intoxicating musk. Her heart nearly leapt from her chest.

Kaleb leaned in, his nose brushing the soft skin beneath her right ear, causing a flutter in her lower abdomen. His canines scraped across the delicate flesh, telling her he was a hairsbreadth away from biting her.

“I find I’m ravenous.”

“Your problem, not mine.” Suzi stiffened her spine, ready for him to do as he desired regardless of her wishes. “I didn’t come here to offer you nourishment.”

His right arm snaked around her, keeping her from fleeing. The fingers of his free hand toyed with the glass vial. “You’re a donor. You offer me what I need.”

“I can’t stop you from feeding.”

“I hear a but in there.”

“I’m retired.”

Kaleb stood back, releasing Suzi to stare down at her. Then he chuckled. His mirth misplaced given the situation.

“I don’t find that funny.”

“No?” He raised one black brow. “I find that rich. Suzi Stevens who offered her blood up to any Son who asked.”

Her brows drew together. “It’s what a donor does.”

“Yes, their blood … but not always do they spread their thighs.”

“I am so done here. Go fuck yourself, Hawk.”

When she turned to leave, Kaleb gripped her wrist and spun her back into his hold so that her back nestled against the erection he didn’t try to conceal. She knew he might not like it, might even hate the idea, but he desired her.

“I told you, I’m hungry,” he whispered. His warm breath passed over the shell of her ear. An ache settled between her thighs. She’d die first.

“And I told you I retired myself.”

“Then I just un-retired you.”

And with that, he sank his fangs into the soft spot just beneath her ear.

“Well?” She drew his gaze upward. “Let’s get this the hell over with.”

“You have somewhere else you need to be, piccolo diavolo?”

“Maybe I do. But it sure in the hell does not include standing here having a tête-à-tête with you.”

And the quicker she got him taking his fill, the sooner she could stop thinking of him in the horizontal with her straddling his lean hips. What the hell were those love handle things anyway that rode just above his jean line? Lord, those made her want to follow the muscle line with her tongue straight to his… Enough! At this rate, she’d never make it out of here unscathed.

Remember why you hate him.

Kaleb set the two wineglasses on a round table, uncorked the bottle and then poured them each a glass, before handing her one.

Suzi quickly shook her head. Too much wine and she’d be promising Kaleb her tomorrows. “None for me. I’m not here to fraternize. Take what you came here for and I’ll be on my way. Don’t make this harder than it has to be, Hawk.”

“It’s Kaleb to you.”

“You will always be Hawk to me.”

She caught a glimpse of his extended fangs as he took a swallow of the deep red wine then licked the remnants from his lips. His prominent brow only enhanced his dangerous look. And he called her little devil? He looked like the beast himself as his obsidian gaze seemed to swallow her whole.

“It’s all the same, piccolo diavolo. But when I’m fucking you, I’d prefer you to call me by my given name.”

“Well, then … no worries there, Hawk.” Suzi winked at him, then walked over to the end table and grabbed the other glass of wine, downing the contents in one swallow. If she were to endure his company, then she might as well do it with good wine. Tilting her head to the side, she asked, “Shall we?”

“You are one cold-hearted bitch.”

“It takes a cold heart to know one.”

Fun Facts

  1. I am a huge movie buff. I love to watch movies and my favorite are chick flicks. Those little romantic comedies with HEA endings. My husband says I always have a silly little grin on my face at the end of them. One of my favs: What’s Your Number?
  2. I love to camp. My husband and I have a camper and every weekend throughout the summer, we go to the campgrounds to kick back and relax, do a little boating, sit around the camp fire. I love the slow pace of life when we camp. It’s a great stress relief.
  3. My favorite food to eat out is Chinese. My husband doesn’t like it. So anytime I want to got to a Chinese Restaurant, it has to be a girls’ day out.
  4. I love coffee, but I usually stick to decaffeinated. One of my favorite places to go is Starbucks. I love their Caramel Macchiato. But I’m not too choosey … I love just about anything with coffee. As well as being a fan of unsweetened tea for me. I hate pop (soda—I’m from Ohio J ) and never drink it.
  5. I love music and seeing live concerts. I have been to many live shows. Anything from Bon Jovi, Poison, Jackal, Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Slash, to the J Geils band, which was my first concert. I also love country and have seen Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Taylor Swift and more … looking forward to Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert and Jake Owens this summer. But one of my favs was David Garrett this past spring in Chicago. His music saw me through the writing of Hawk, so it was fitting to see him live when I completed the book.

It was just a guess, but I figured women who spent their Friday

Cover Reveal ~ Hot Blooded by Kendall Grey

Cover Reveal

If Robert Rodriquez (Sin City), Tony Soprano, and David Lynch (Twin Peaks) made sweet love to a Hawaiian version of The Bride (Uma Thurman’s character from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill), the resulting spawn might look like Kendall Grey’s upcoming mystery/suspense/supernatural thriller, HOT-BLOODED.

The first installment in the Ohana series, HOT-BLOODED is set on the island of Maui and is wrapped in the light and dark watercolors of Hawaiian culture, history, and mythology. It’s about guns, drugs, surfing, and tiki monsters. HOT-BLOODED tells the tale of a ballsy, half-Hawaiian angel-turned-demon, the duplicitous assassin who falls for her, and the blessings and curses of family—all wrapped up in freaky, supernatural gift paper.

Synopsis 3

Here’s the description:

WARNING: HOT-BLOODED does NOT end with a happily ever after. It contains drug use and graphic sex, language, and violence. The story is intended to entertain, not to condone or glorify illegal or immoral activities. This book is unsuitable for sensitive readers and those under the age of 18.

*Written in 3rd person. Contains a massive cliffhanger and multiple POVs.

Ohana is everything…

When an accident claims her mother’s life, Keahilani Alana must take charge of her ohana (family) or risk losing what little they have. With an underage brother to care for and no education, she has few options. The door to a heavenly hellish opportunity opens when she stumbles upon a valuable secret her mother left behind on the slopes of an extinct volcano—a legacy that tempts the family with riches beyond their wildest dreams. But the secret is much bigger and more sinister than they realize. As reality unravels and exposes eerie truths about the ohana that should have remained deep under the mountain, Keahilani must either resist the call of her blood or risk being consumed by its darkness.

Blake Murphy is an assassin working to infiltrate a new Hawaiian cartel. His investigation reveals that Keahilani, the sexy surfing instructor he pegged as an informant, is much closer to the drug ring than he thought. Passion ignites between them in the bedroom, but their ironclad ties to opposing interests pit them against each other everywhere else.

When tensions reach the breaking point and her ohana is threatened, the only cure for Keahilani’s hot-blooded fury is a loaded clip with a body bag chaser.

They don’t call her Pele for nothing.

Here’s the cover, designed by Renee Coffey:

So, are you up for a steamy, violent descent into tropical-island madness with a supernatural twist? If so, you can add HOT-BLOODED to your Goodreads TBR here. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but Kendall is shooting for the end of June or early July. Stay tuned!

Synopsis 3
One summer.
One chance meeting.
One devastating phone call.
MacKenna Trist is not happy about spending a month with her family in Myrtle Beach. She would rather be at home, hanging out with her friends, before starting her senior year of high school. That is, until she meets the guy staying in the beach house next door.
Roe Gamble is speechless when he first lays eyes on Mac. Normally, pretty girls are his specialty but not this girl. From this girl, he wants more. More of everything. More than she can give him. Most importantly, more time to show her how he feels about her.
But time is working against them in more ways than one.
How much time do you really need to fall in love?
What would you gamble to hold onto it?

I remember the first time I saw him. I remember how in awe I was of him. His presence was overwhelming. I was speechless, kind of like I am right now. The only thing I could really do was stare. His beauty was blinding. I knew at that moment that I wanted more from him than he would probably be willing to give. Guys like him only want one thing. Girls like me, we want everything.
He was that everything for me. I wanted him, body and soul. I wanted his heart, his love. What I never expected was for him to give it to me. Unconditionally. Freely.
I loved him. He loved me. At least he said that he did. Love can’t really conquer all, though. Can it?
His eyes are sparkling. His mouth is hanging open slightly and I can see his chest rising and falling. This man, he’s everything I ever wanted. Why did I let him go so easily? Why didn’t he fight harder? Why did I?
I feel a hand at the base of my back but I don’t turn my head. That would mean that I would have to break eye contact with him and I don’t think I can do that. I feel my heart breaking at just the thought of turning my head and looking away. I know I will have to eventually.
“Everything okay, babe?”
I hate it when he calls me that. He knows how degraded I feel when he calls me babe. He only does it when he’s trying to mark his territory. Why not just whip it out and take a piss on my foot?
I open my mouth to speak when I see a leggy blonde step in front of him. I can’t see her face but she is tapping her foot like she’s irritated. I have a feeling that one of the steaming cups in his hand must belong to her.
He hands them both to her and steps around her. He slowly takes another step and he’s only a few feet away from me. One more step and he’s standing in front of me now and I’m staring at his chest. I can’t bear to look up. I have a feeling that I am going to be able to see how much I broke his heart just by staring into his beautiful brown eyes.

4 Pennies

Years ago, I read a short story in Seventeen Magazine titled, “Small Losses.”  In the story, a young girl meets a young man at the beach.  They strike up a conversation and she thinks things are going in one direction, but in the end it takes a much unexpected tangent.  It’s a story I read over 30 years ago and it came crashing back to my memory when I read Rachael Brownell’s Take A Gamble.

Who hasn’t dreamed of a summer romance?  Throw in a vacation by the beach and turn that fantasy up a notch.  That’s where Take A Gamble starts.  The way Rachael Brownell introduces Roe and Mackenna into the story and to each other is lovely.  Mac has just arrived at the beach house where her family is vacationing, and Roe is lurking in the shadows when he sees the vision of Mac when she emerges from her house to explore the beach.

To say there was an immediate attraction to one another is an understatement.  I’d liken it more to a magnetic charge.  They couldn’t help but come together.  It was as if fate predetermined their destiny to meet.

While their relationship progresses quickly, it does not seem implausible based upon the overall setting of the story.  Rachael takes these two characters to the brink, only to have them change directions in a way that I did not expect.

Even though I was aware of the age of these characters, I never felt like I was reading a YA or NA book.  Neither Roe nor Mac behaved in a way that was irritating or immature.  They showed genuine care and concern for each other and that care and concern shows in the subsequent decisions they make.

The last quarter of the book becomes very climactic and veers in a direction that confused me.  I’m not sure I totally believed what was happening or how those involved were trying to bring it to a close, but there was plenty of excitement and an ending that was very pleasing.

Hope Manson had it all, or at least that is what she thought.  She was on top of the world in high school did not believe anything could touch her.  Hope found out quickly one night just how you can lose everything in an instance.  When a prank goes terribly wrong, Hope must pay for her mistakes.  While serving time, she makes a pledge that she would not be selfish and would devote her time after release to help Jenny’s name and memory live on.

Wes Styles is the typical playboy; gorgeous, can get any women he wants, no commitment, and likes to party.  He has commitment issues from his mother leaving him and is father at an early age.  He does not believe that any women will ever be worth the trouble to keep around.

Wes doesn’t believe in love and Hope doesn’t believe she deserves to be loved, so they seem to be perfect for each other.

This book is an amazing story of what one girl’s faces after being part of a bullying prank gone wrong.  It shows her transformation into a woman from her time served and her desire and need to speak at high schools on behalf of Jenny.  Her hope is by telling her story it can help bullies and the victims learn that they are not alone and there is a way to stop the cycle.  Hope discovers many things about herself throughout her journey.

This particular quote just stood out to me as a great example of how we need to live for today:

“I believe we all die too early.  It’s not until death faces us full frontal that we realized we never actually lived. Time is wasted too often.  I know this now, and because of this, I truly have become a better person.”

This book has drugs, friends in trouble, kidnapping, death, families lost and love found.  This book covered so much in so little pages.  I enjoyed every second of it and was sad to see it end.  Thank you Ashley Beale for another amazingly touching story with some very steamy sex scenes included.

“Sounds like you have it all figured out, don’t you?”
A satisfied smile crossed his face. “Uh-huh.”
“I bet you have a dirty mouth, too?”
By the look on his face, it was fairly obvious he was about to say something dirty. “Sweetheart, you’d be surprised what that mouth can get me and what it can do for you.”
“Wow.” I threw my head back. “You’re so fucking arrogant.”
“Arrogance is a blessing.”
“How so?”
“No matter what you say” — he winked — “you want a man with confidence.”
He had me there.
A raucous burst of laughter brought me out of my island boy trance.
I brought the glass to my lips, finishing my drink, and watched a group of intoxicated girls grind on each other. Next to them, there was a group of men watching, drooling, and then taking them home.
“A girl really did a shot off a guy’s dick?”
Tyler grinned and held up the bottle of tequila in one hand, the other one undoing his belt buckle. “Wanna try?”
“Oh, uh.” I swallowed, and I thought he sensed maybe I wasn’t drunk enough for that, but it did sound appealing to me. I wouldn’t mind putting my mouth on him for sure, the thought tempting, even if I just envisioned it in my mind.
Before I had a lot of time to think about it, Tyler looked around the bar. It was empty for the most part, so he patted the bar. “Hop up here, city girl.”
“On the bar?”
He raised an eyebrow, setting the bottle of tequila on the bar and then placing two limes and salt beside it. “Yeah, what the fuck does ‘hop up here’ mean in city terms?”
“All right, let’s do it.” I gave a nod, as if to prepare myself.
“Off my dick?” You couldn’t miss the eagerness in his voice.
“Uh, no. Something else.”
I jumped slightly when his hands touched my exposed knees, pulling them apart. He then grabbed the salt shaker and made me get on the bar. He moved between my legs, putting his hands on my thighs again. With a firm grip he slid me forward and stood so his chest was in line with mine, so close I could finally smell him. He smelled like summer, warm sand, rum and cologne, fresh and clean.
He let go of me and then drew back far enough that he could raise his hands to pull his T-shirt over his shoulders. Goddamn, was he muscular and tanned. Dark markings scattered his chest and arms with what appeared to be about twenty or thirty different tattoos. I didn’t have a single tattoo, and the thought of getting even one terrified me. But part of me was really excited right then because now I knew he didn’t have a cat’s ass on his stomach. I could work with this.
I snuck a peek at his body again, just one more and proudly noticed him doing the same thing.
Oh yeah, I could definitely work with this.
We stared at each other for a moment, Zac Brown Band bellowing through the bar.
I was fairly modest in my attempt at a body shot and did one off his neck. Licking his soft but rough skin, I took my shot and then sucked on the lime in my hand. He said nothing, showed no real reaction other than his arms tensing when I licked his neck.
We sat there, staring at each other.
It was his turn.
Slowly he bent down to my neck, his lips on my collar bone, but he didn’t stay there. He surprised me when he moved lower, and lower. When he reached my thighs, he slowly spread them apart, his thumbs on my inner thighs, just inches above my knees.
I moaned, tossing my head back. “Of course you’d do that.”
He looked up at me, his head between my legs. “Nice panties.”
“Stop looking.”
I went to close my legs, but he caught them in his firm grip, prying them apart. “I don’t think so. You owe me.”
His mouth moved in, closer, and then closer. The heat from his breath and the humidity had me sweating like crazy. No way did I want his mouth down there. I tried to pull him up by his shoulders, but he knocked my hands away and shook his head.
With his mouth on my left thigh, he slowly licked a trail upward until his nose hit the bottom of my dress. Drawing back just slightly, he reached beside him for the salt, sprinkling it over the path his tongue had just made. Reaching up he placed the lime in my mouth.
Is he serious?
Yep. Looks like it.
I took the lime, willingly. He grabbed the shot and lowered himself once more between my legs. Wanting to tease him, and maybe torture myself, I spread my legs a little farther apart.
He smiled, his eyes a little darker as his hair fell in his face. Nothing was being said, but this was by far the sexiest shot I’d ever experienced.
With absolutely no hesitation, he licked the path he made with the salt, his tongue flat and wet against my overly heated skin. The sensation shot through my body, causing me to jump on contact. He noticed and gripped my thighs a little tighter, holding me still.
Pulling away, he threw his head back and took the shot, and then brought himself to my mouth. At some point I had bitten down on the lime; the juice squeezed down my chin and neck. Licking my neck, then chin, capturing the juices, he then took the lime, smiling the entire time.
Our lips never touched, and I was sadly disappointed. I wanted to kiss him.
He leaned toward me and brought his lips to my ear. “Now imagine that…higher….” His left hand, which was on my thigh, still moved higher until the pad of his thumb was between my legs. He stroked his thumb over my clit, separated from his skin by the thin wetness of my panties, with just enough pressure that I wanted to scream and then shove his entire hand up there.  To say my body was now officially more liquefied than the drinks that this delicious looking bartender served to his customers would be the biggest understatement of the night. I needed him as much as I needed my next breath. Praying that this night ended the way I’d envisioned because this ache wasn’t going to go away on its own.

Something Worth Saving
It was one night, one fate and something tragic destroying something beautiful.
Heavy sheets of smoke curling and rolling together constricting my visions of this life I had.
You see that there?
That wrenching pain in your gut knowing not everything as it seems?
Look closer. That nervous energy you now have, stumbling over words you can’t say, a voice muffled under a mask, a moaning plea to be saved, slurred words on the tip of your tongue, there’s the something tragic.
When I have nothing left to give, nothing left to say, it’s him that brings me back to the moment, in the arms of my firefighter, the warmth of his heart and body, struggling to save his family.

Just Enough
Coming Summer 2014
I want out of this town.
I want to leave and never look back.
He doesn’t knock when he comes in, he never needs to. He knows, as well as I do, my door is always open, waiting.
I crave him. I do. He knows this, I think, I know, and I believe he craves me too. Why else would he come back?
It’s his determination and his will that gets me. That determination keeps me waiting for him in a dreary bay. I’ve always heard my friends say they wanted the rich guy to take them out of this small town that seems to hold us all captive.
Lincoln wasn’t that guy. At first look, he’s a fisherman, married to the sea and weighted by her waves.
Who is he to me?
He’s someone who gives just enough.
He shows me a different way of thinking. A way to give more than just enough.
